Google did not mention the complete changes expected in the redesign but it said that the new design is inspired by the iPhone and iPad app design released last December.

Since the launch of the rebooted Gmail app for iPhone and iPad in December, we've heard from many of you that you liked the redesigned UI, along with new features, like improved search and integration with Google Calendar. Today we are rolling out a similar renewed look at the Gmail Mobile web app as well as Gmail Offline in which many of these same changes.

If you used the Gmail Offline for Chrome, you can also select the new design and features in that search, but wait until the update rolls out strong, as I'm not seeing the changes from now on.
